Personal Care in Hallandale Beach
The most private half hour of anybody's day, booked for long enough that nobody has to rush it.
Rushing is what makes it go wrong
Almost every complaint about personal care comes down to time. Thirty minutes to wash, dress and settle somebody who moves slowly is not thirty minutes of care; it is thirty minutes of hurrying a person who is already embarrassed.
So the first conversation here is about length rather than content. Book an hour where half an hour was sold elsewhere and most of the difficulty disappears before anybody argues about technique.
Personal care is the commonest first booking, and it shares an hour easily with meals, laundry or company.
The hands-on part
Done in the order the plan records, at the speed the person sets.
At the basin or in the shower
Whichever is manageable today, with a hand where it is wanted and nowhere else.
Getting dressed
Clothes laid out in a workable order, fastenings handled rather than fought with.
The bathroom
There and back, safely, with no commentary made of it.
Standing and sitting
Bed to chair, chair to frame, and rising from the lavatory — the movements behind most indoor falls.
Skin and nails
Creams as the plan says; anything new noted and telephoned through the same day.
Points at which it stops working alone
- A wash is taking most of the morning
- A partner is doing the lifting and should not be
- Help is refused when it is offered in a hurry
- Clothes are going several days without changing
- The shower has not been used in weeks
